Walking on Water

This summer marked 23 years for me shooting photography.

I have always been fond of this image. It came as many good things do, as a surprise. Timed perfectly, I was walking in the opposite direction down the ally road on the other side of the block, soon as I pass the corner I see this young lady walking on water as she’s’ crossing my path. If I remember right, the river was up 53 feet that year, just covering the sidewalk and the street on Riverside Dr. in Covington, Ky. It was the early 2000s, the exact year, I don’t remember.
.
This was shot on a @Nikon N80 film camera. I shot film until 2007 when I decide to accept a volunteer position in Guyana to work on flora and fauna research project. For many years and still in some ways, that was my favorite trip I had ever taken.
.
Although, I have had a chance to take great photos in some great places, some of the photos I have taken at home are also some of the best. Timing more than anything makes for the best images. Timing of the composition, the lighting, the location, or the circumstances of all the above create the most interesting photographs. In my opinion, that is true more than any staged photo created could possibly be. Life happens all by itself. Just be there to watch it,

Meeting people on the pathway of life gives an array of perspective if you stop and listen. If you take the time to put yourself in their shoes you can learn something. By photographing people and learning about their stories, I aim to share and shine a light on cultures and purpose to help others find meaning and motivation to live a positive life.
